Kaizer Chiefs coach Fernando Da Cruz says the international break has come at the right time to integrate new signing Elias Mokwana into the squad.
Mokwana joined Chiefs this week as a free agent after leaving Tunisian side Esperance, having also spent time on loan at Saudi club Al-Hazem.
Both the player and the club will be hoping he can make an impact after a mixed start to the campaign for Amakhosi.
The winger brings pace and creativity, and Da Cruz, speaking through fitness coach Julien Le Heran, who acts as his interpreter, says they will use the FIFA break to work on his fitness and integrate him into the squad.
“Mokwana is a very good player, an experienced player who has been in the Bafana Bafana team before,” Da Cruz said. “So he has a lot of quality, we know that.
“His start to the season has been a little bit tough, but we have the FIFA break now.
“During this break, we will have time to work with him, and after the break it will be time to integrate him step by step into the squad.”
Chiefs are next in action on Sunday when they host Siwelele in the Carling Knockout quarter-finals in Polokwane, with Mokwana unlikely to feature.
Their next scheduled league fixture is away to Chippa United on November 28, when he could make his debut.
