Champions FC Midtjylland to face FC Copenhagen in Danish Cup quarter-final

Reigning champions FC Midtjylland will face FC Copenhagen in a repeat of last year’s Cup final in the quarter-final of this years tournament. Danish champions AGF will face giant killers Brabrand in a true Aarhus derby

Defending cup champions FC Midtjylland will face FC Copenhagen in this season’s quarter-finals.

This was determined by a draw held at the MCH Arena in Herning, following the Midtjylland side’s 2-1 victory over OB on Thursday.

AGF, the defending Superliga champions, face what appears to be an easier task on paper, as they take on Brabrand—from the 2nd Division—in an Aarhus-area local derby.

However, Brabrand has previously knocked out both Viborg FF and AC Horsens, who are Superliga clubs.

The only other remaining team from the lower divisions, Nykobing FC, will face Brondby IF.

FC Nordsjaelland will play either Lyngby or Randers FC; those two teams are not scheduled to play their Round of 16 match until next Tuesday.

All the quarter-finals in the Danish Cup tournament:

AGF – Brabrand IF

Lyngby Boldklub/Randers FC – FC Nordsjaelland

Nykobing FC – Brondby IF

FC Copenhagen – FC Midtjylland
