Dutch striker Brian Brobbey has put pen to paper on a long-term contract with Sunderland, the club confirmed on Tuesday.
Brobbey, 24, has signed a new contract with the Black Cats through 2031.
The Dutch international joined Sunderland from Ajax in the summer of 2025 and scored 7 goals in 31 Premier League appearances in his debut season. This season, Brobbey has scored 3 goals, all in Sunderland’s 5-3 away defeat at Manchester City.
“I’m really happy with the confidence the club has shown in me. Since I arrived, I’ve felt the ambition here, and I want to keep growing and improving as a player,” Brobbey said on the club website.
“Representing Sunderland in the Premier League is both an honour and a privilege. Having played my part in helping this club qualify for European competition is something I’m incredibly proud of. It’s an achievement that will always be part of the club’s history.”
The Dutchman has not featured much recently after picking up an injury in the Netherlands’ game against Germany, but has been happily welcomed back as Sunderland sit at the bottom of the table with 5 points from the first nine rounds.
“I know I still can be a better version of myself, and that’s what motivates me every day. I want to score goals, help the team and give our fans something to be proud of,” Brobbey continued.
